WHAT IS SOUNDTRAP STUDIO APP?

Accessible through any online browser or a mobile app, Soundtrap is a digital audio workstation (Chrome, iOS, and Android). Prerecorded loops, voice recording, multitrack recording, software instruments, and the ability to link MIDI devices are all included, much like other digital recording alternatives. Soundtrap is different in that it encourages teamwork through built-in chat and video conferencing. During cooperation, the project is updated via a simple sync to show changes.

A reliable internet connection is necessary for use because all work is completed “in the cloud”. Users get access to the digital workstation with the free Basic version, but it is not kid-safe. EDU accounts come with a teacher admin dashboard that enables administration of groups (classes), students, and assignments, as well as a wealth of classroom materials. Student participation in a walled-garden setting is another promise made by the EDU account. Microsoft Student, Google, Facebook, and email are all integrated into the enrollment process for EDU users. In addition to Noteflight, Flat, and LMSs like Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, and MusicFirst, Soundtrap EDU interfaces with these as well.

HOW DO TEACHERS WORK WITH THIS TOOL?

Soundtrap may be used for audio projects by teachers in many academic areas. Teachers may utilize Soundtrap for podcasting, readers theater, interviews, storytelling/personal narrative, poetry reading, and other activities outside music production. Soundtrap is a fantastic tool for projects other than music because of the autogenerated and interactive transcripts, which provide a novel text-based approach to modify and examine voice recordings. Of course, Soundtrap is an excellent tool for creating music as well, with its vast selection of loops and instruments.

Assigning tasks to students via a link shared with them or using Google Classroom (or another LMS) interface, teachers may provide feedback and help via chat or video conferences. Each student receives a copy of the project when they open the project assignment, along with the teacher. This enables comments and in-progress evaluation. In addition to allowing students to collaborate with other classes across the world, teachers may utilize the collaboration option to connect with their personal learning networks (PLNs).
